John Burns, Jr.

John H. Burns, age 67 of Broomfield/Westminster, Colorado passed aw, ay on November 18, 2014at his home of complications following a struggle with diabetes and a car accident.

John was born in New York City on October 28, 1947 to John and Veola Burns, John graduated from Queens College in Queens New York with his degree in Accounting in 1972. John met his future wife Viola Shirley Dean in St. Albans, New York and they were married on June 25, 1971 in New York City.

John loved New York and was a New York City police officer for 11 years. In 1978 John, Shirley and their five children, Arnold, Jamal, Tahirah, Faruq, and Qahhar, moved to Broomfield/Westminster, CO. During his years in Colorado, John owned and operated his own construction business MDJ Coating Specialists for many years. John also was able to successfully pursue his singing career. He preformed and entertained at weddings, graduations and many other events throughout Colorado. He was also a part of the Colorado Musicians Association.

John is survived by his father, John Burns, Sr., of San Francisco, CA, his beloved children, son, Arnold Buskey, of Denver, CO, daughter Tahirah Burns, of Broomfield/Westminster, CO, son Faruq Burns, of Denver, CO and son Qahhar Burns of Aurora, CO, Faruq's spouse Angela, and Qahhar's fiancée Tireza and John's two grandchildren, Qahhar Jr., and Rhiaun.

He was also survived by his brother Jeffrey Burns and his fiancée Karen Onyeali of Aurora, CO, his sister Hope Burns of San Francisco, CA, nephew, Jeffrey Burns Jr, his fiancée, Misty Lopez their children Dominica, Destinee, A'Janae and Jadice of Aurora, CO, nephew Daniel Burns, of Aurora CO, and Neil Putzer of San Francisco, CA

Lastly, John is survived by a multitude of loving extended family members, long-time friends, coworkers and former employees

He was preceded in death by his mother Veola Burns, in 1964 and his son, Jamal Buskey in1992 at the age of 23

A memorial service will be at, Horan & McConaty 1091 S. Colorado Blvd., Denver 80246 on November 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m.
