Joel Melahn

Joel ‘Joey' David Melahn, was born in Algonquin, Illinois on October 21, 1966. He passed peacefully at home in Parker, Colorado on December 18, 2017, at 51 years of age.

Joel is survived by his wife, Karen, of 21 years, their precious sons Ryan and Nathan, his mother Marilyn Melahn, sister Peggy Vanderplow, and brother Scott Melahn. He was preceeded in death by his father, Arthur Melahn, and brother, Patrick Melahn.

Joel worked for Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) and Lockheed Martin in the field of aerospace. He was an Eagle Scout, and active with his boys in Boy Scouts of America. His Jeep and going on the trails in the mountains was a passion of Joel's. He loved fly fishing, snowshoeing and hiking, and grilling on his BBQ. He was an avid Chicago Bears and White Sox fan.

Being a dedicated father to his boys was the center of his life. He was a very involved dad, attending Ryan and Nathan's school events and sports activities, and helping them with their school work. Joel was all about his family, and taking care of them was his first priority.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 3 pm. Parker Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 9030 Miller Rd., Parker, Colorado 80138.

In lieu of flowers contributions for the continuing education of his sons' Ryan and Nathan Melahn can be made.
