Jenny Marie Armijo 77, of Santa Fe went into the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on December 31,2017, surrounded by the love of God and her family. She was the beloved beautiful bride of Justin Armijo for 57 years. Jenny will forever be embraced in the hearts of her children: Ron, Lisa, Camille, Kirsten, Grandchildren: Justin, Landie, Caleb, Charlie, Jeremy, Shannon, Cyrus, Brandon, Jade, Jacob, Daleyah, Daniel and Vashti, and 7 great-grandchildren.
With the beauty of a servant’s heart she was a blessing of love and a mentor to many. She was a pillar of strength, courage, and hope. As she battled a long-term illness she selflessly continued to pour herself into her family and friends. She served the homeless at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and supported children around the world. She was a member of the Altar’s Society at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and participated in numerous church activities.
Known for her boisterous personality, Jenny was always one to find anything and everything to talk about even with total strangers. Her contagious smile, generosity and sense of humor won the trust and hearts of many and her signature gift of joy, laughter and joking will never be forgotten.
Jenny was the matriarch not only to her immediate family, but also to the extended family and many friends around her. There was never any hesitation if anyone needed anything and often times Jenny knew better than most what they needed. If someone needed a place to stay they knew they could go to Jenny’s. If someone needed something to eat... Jenny’s, if someone needed something warm to wear... Jenny, and if someone needed advice, even unsolicited... Jenny. Even Pena Blanca, known to others as Justin, reluctantly had to give in to Jenny’s calling to give.
Jenny lived by the words of the Serenity Prayer: “ God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” Well, maybe she didn’t live by the entire prayer, as Jenny didn’t usually accept that she couldn’t change things, she never lacked for courage, and she definitely felt she knew better. Her love, smile, and laughter will always remain in our hearts. She was preceded in death by her parents Lena and Camilo Rivera, siblings: Josephine, Louis, Camilo Jr., Erlinda, and Mabel Gonzales. Jenny is survived by her sister Elena and husband Carl Smith, brothers: Elmon and wife Lupe, Jimmy and wife Lydia, Johnny and wife Natalie, Richard and wife Shelly, and sister-in-law Terri Rivera.
A rosary will be recited on January 8, 2017 at 7:00 p.m., at Santuario De Guadalupe. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 417 Agua Fria St., Santa Fe, on January 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. followed by internment at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
