James Taylor

February 11, 1933 — February 20, 2012

James Albert Taylor, 79: serviceman, gentleman, rascal, comfort cook, thrifty planner, loving dad, and delighted grandpa. Jim died peacefully in hospice surrounded by all of his children on February 20, 2012, after a brief battle with cancer. Jim was born February 11, 1933, in New London, Connecticut, and spent his mischievous youth in Shelley, Idaho. Jim spent 20 years in the Air Force and retired as a Major. He then spent another 20 years as a mail carrier for the US postal service before retiring again. Jim spent the last forty years in Aurora, Colorado, raising his four kids and establishing the family home. He will be remembered for his great Sunday dinners; quirky routines; skills in hunting, fishing and card-playing; excitement over Broncos games; never taking a day off; and his ability to value time on the front porch for a "sit and spit."
He is survived by his children, James A. Taylor IV Allison, Denise A. Taylor, Terry L.T. Hobbs Fred, and Michael A. Taylor Elizabeth, as well as three grandchildren Kelly, Jacob, and Ethan plus one due to arrive this July.
A service for Jim will be held this Saturday, March 3rd, at 12:00 pm at the Village East Baptist Church in Aurora, Colorado. Private services will also be held at Ft. Logan Cemetery to honor his Air Force career. If friends would like to make donations in his honor, his family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society, Denver Hospice, or giving your loved ones a hug.
