James Edward Domin (89) passed away at home on May 3, 2023, in Centennial, Colorado. He was born on September 22, 1933 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Mary (Veverka) Domin. He enlisted in the Navy in 1951 as a Radio Operator Apprentice aboard the USS Everett F Larson. While in the Navy he spent time in the Mediterranean and Cuba and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Navy Occupation Service Medal (Europe) before completing his service in 1953. He attended St John Fisher College in Rochester, New York majoring in Accounting and Finance.
Jim met Anna Allen at a USO dance in Boston in 1953 and they were married on July 31, 1954. They spent the next 68 years together beginning in East Rochester, New York, moving to Lanham, Maryland and finally settling in Littleton, Colorado.
Jim’s best times were spent with Anna enjoying their family – taking long mountain drives together, sightseeing and camping. Jim loved dogs and always had a few along wherever he went. He was a sports enthusiast and a lifelong fan of the Steelers and Pirates.
Jim was preceded in death by Anna, his parents, his sister (Mary Lancaster) and brother (Joseph Domin). He is survived by his seven children: Jean (Gary) Yoakum, Joe Domin, Anne (Dennis Hetzel) Kerven, Kathy (Vinnie Freauff) Domin, Diana (Harley) Shubart, Mary (Jeff) Stewart, and Eileen (Chuck) Welch. In addition to his children, Jim is missed by eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, his cousin Donna Misencik (Matt), nephew Joe (Amy) Lancaster and niece Mary (Greg) Dettman.
Jim is loved and greatly missed by his family.
Funeral services will be held on May 25, 2023 (11:00 am) at Ft. Logan National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Denver Dumb Friends League
