On Sunday May 22, 2022, James A. Boyd went home to be with the lord and be reunited with his many family members. He passed peacefully in the early morning, surrounded by his loved ones. James (Jim) was born in Rye Colorado in 1940 to Jesse Claude and Zelda Mae Boyd as the youngest boy with 3 older brothers George, Robert, Richard, one older sister Virginia and younger sister Nancy. Jim graduated from Rye High School where he was an all-state basketball player and helped lead his team to victory in the state championship. After High School, Jim moved to Denver where he was a railroad worker until 1968. He then joined the Denver Fire Department, rising through the ranks to Lieutenant and retiring in 1996. Jim and his wife Annette (Kuykendall) had two daughters Virginia Lee (Tom) and Jamie (Lou) who passed away in 2018. Jim is survived by his daughter Virginia Lee, his wife of 26 years Harriet Boyd, 4 grandchildren Christina (Edward), Jason (Kara), Cassandra (Bryan) and Andrew who passed in 2016. He was also a great grandfather to Autumn (Jose), Sierra (Zach), Connor, Sydney and Lucie Mae and Great-Great grandfather to Brooklyn and Brock. Jim was larger than life, and not just because he was 6'5! He was a charismatic, goofy and a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all.
