Ms. Jacqueline Iona Christian, of Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2018 at the age of 68.
Jacqueline was born to parents John Wesley Christian and Leora Irene Christian on February 28, 1950 in Steubenville, Ohio. She was the youngest of three children and raised in Wheeling, West Virginia. Jacqueline was drawn to volunteering at a young age. As an eight-year old Girl Scout she participated in a community fund-raising venture called "Fair Share Giving" in conjunction with the Red Feather Agency where her picture was featured in the local Wheeling newspaper. Jacqueline attended Wheeling High School where she took up playing the clarinet and after graduating high school in 1967 she joined the Job Corps.
As a wife and mother Jacqueline enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1976. In basic training she earned the nickname "Mama" as many of the younger trainees looked to her for advice and guidance. During Jacqueline's service in the Air Force she earned several awards: Air Force Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon, Senior Information Management Badge Member In Support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm. Jacqueline served her country for 20 years and retired honorably as an Intelligence Specialist in 1996 at Los Angeles, AFB her last duty station.
Some years after retiring Jacqueline moved to Denver, Colorado to be closer to her family. She joined Colorado Christian Fellowship in 2008 and volunteered in several ministries. Jacqueline assisted with the facilitation of Vacation Bible School for three consecutive years, welcomed first time guests in the Visitors Center, served on the Communications Team at the Information Desk and assisted new believers as a Kingdom Connection 1st Contact Liaison. She spent much of her free time "kickin it" with her family and enjoying the retired life. Jacqueline loved a good dance party and particularly enjoyed the instrumental sounds of Caribbean and Soca music. She was a beloved sister, aunt, mother, Airman, grand-mother, friend and most of all servant of God.
Jacqueline is survived by her son, Eric Brooks; her daughter and son-in-love, LaTeca and Albert Webber; her niece Jessica Washington of Wheeling, WV and her five grand-children Timolin, Ahmani, Asha, Tiani and Albert. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Leora Christian; her sister, Florence Washington and brother, James Cyrus.
