Jake was a dearly beloved son, brother and friend. He was charming and charismatic and could light up a room with his energy, booming voice and smile. He had a counselor’s heart with a unique ability to connect with and almost take on as his own the pain of peers and make them feel better.
Marvel comics, Magic the Gathering cards, magic tricks and video games were his passions. He was especially fond of the bigger than life stories about the battles between good and evil like Thanos, Thor and Monster Hunter perhaps because they mirrored the same battles raging within Jake his last few years. Jake’s vivid imagination and creativity were reflected in the elaborate games he would play with the neighbors and later in the superhero and fantasy stories he wrote or collaborated on with dear friends. He possessed an unparalleled ability to weave himself into a grand narrative with a complexity and beauty he could articulate to few people.
Jake’s faith that he was loved and in the grace of Jesus remained strong and constant from the time of his baptism, though his youth group years and confirmation, his baptismal renewal in 2021, and even into the despairing depths of Fentanyl addiction and homelessness. Jake lost his earthly battle to the deceivers of this world but his unwavering faith in God’s promise won him eternal life, lasting peace and a permanent place in his Father’s home.
Jake is survived by his parents, Dianna and John, his siblings, Daniel (Tara), Dasia (Matt), Jeneva and Annie, his grandparents Geri, Lois and Ron along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, members of his birth family, and friends. A celebration of life is planned for Wednesday February 1st, 10:30 AM at Our Father Lutheran Church in Centennial Colorado. A livestream for those who cannot attend can be accessed HERE
