Helen Waters

Helen Waters passed away peacefully on December 13, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Helen Johnson. She is survived by her children; Michael Cathie of Hallowell, ME, Marty Cathi of Denver, Kathy Wood Craig of Denver, Philip Mary Pat of Denver, Gary Susan of Denver and David Janet of Athens, OH, along with 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and her sisters, Jessie Hobrecht of TX and Mary Kelly of Denver .
Helen spent the early part of her life in Denver and as a teenager was skilled in literature and horseback riding where she belonged to the Hot-n-Tots riding club. After raising her children in Denver, she later moved to Minnesota, introducing her children to an entirely other world of a small college town where she worked at the Mankato State College Bookstore as a book buyer. After retirement she moved back to Denver.
She was a vibrant and entertaining woman. Helen was interested in everybody, listened to everybody, asked a thousand questions of everybody – and cared. She was proud of her children, completely in love with her grandchildren, and despite her faults, a very good and strong woman.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church 7th and Elizabeth in Denver on Friday, December 28th, 2012 at 2:00 PM. A reception will follow in the Parish Family Center.
