Heather Roberta Dreesen 42, transitioned to a new life on July 19, 2012 at the Denver Hospice in Denver, CO after walking heroically for 10 years with cancer. During this period Heather repeatedly demonstrated her ability to comfort and teach others about the importance of living each day fully and about being grateful for all the good that we have been given in our lives. Family and friends who witnessed her passing felt that she consciously and gracefully left this realm.
Proceeded in death by her grandfather Voyd J. Elich and grandparents Frank and Elsie Dreesen.
She is survived by and lives on through her daughter Savana Kovacs, her mother Kathy Bill VanLandingham, father Frank Dreesen, grandmother Bernice Elich, grand parents Jack and Mary VanLandingham, stepsister Shannon Patrick Day and children, stepbrothers Billy and Andy VanLandingham, stepsister JacqueMike Anaya and children, Aunt Jan Burt Monroe and daughters Lauren Jef Ryan and Mandy, Uncle Butch Janet Elich and daughters Della and Clare along with extended family and many friends.
Heather was born on July 9, 1970 in Pueblo, CO. She graduated from South High School in 1988, then moved to Breckenridge, CO. and on to Denver.
On May 10, 2000, the love of her life, Savana, was born through her union with Scott Kovacs.
Heather worked for 13 years in the mortgage industry in nearly all capacities.
In February 2012 she graduated in the top 2% of her class from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where she was trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods.
Heather received a scholarship to attend a retreat for cancer survivors at the Shambala Center at Red Feather Lake in Northern Co.
She was an active member of her daughter's school PTA and numerous school activities. Over the last few years she had given several programs on nutrition to the Pueblo Herb Society and Family Community Education Groups. She appeared on Channel 7 News as a spokesperson for Sense of Security.
Every day she would shake off any bad thoughts, bless the present and move along on a path to her future with Savana, family and friends. When negative people and problems presented themselves, she blessed them and moved to a better place knowing that one must remain positive to move ahead.

Celebration of life will be held at 5p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2012, at Central Christian Church, 1902 N. Hudson Ave., Pueblo, CO and at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, August 4, 2012, at 2549 South Ivanhoe Place, Denver, CO 80222. Heather always enjoyed good food please bring a favorite dish to share.
