Guadalupe Palacios

Guadalupe M. Palacios passed away at home on the afternoon of June 11th at the age of 88 years old.

Guadalupe is survived by her daughter Marina Vargas and son Carlos Jaime Palacios and his wife Martha and son Ernest Rene Palacios and sisters Helen Gurule and Esther Gonzales and brothers Tony Maldonado and Johnnie Maldonado and grandchildren Marco, Vanessa, Marisa, Carlos, Adrian, Jonathan, and great grandchildren Avery, Nicholas, Leila, Myles and (soon to be born Liam) and sisters in law Pauline Maldonado and Alice Maldonado and many beloved nieces and nephews. Guadalupe is preceded in death by her husband Ernesto H. Palacios and her father Eduardo Maldonado and Mother Francis Maldonado, sisters Lucy Hernandez and Teresa Montoya and brothers Max Maldonado, Ralph Maldonado, Joe Maldonado, Eduardo Maldonado Jr., and Frankie Maldonado and son-in-law Stan Vargas and daughter-in-law Bridgett Palacios.

Guadalupe was born on November 22nd, 1929 in Eaton, CO to Eduardo and Francis Maldonado. Soon after Guadalupe was born her family moved to Albuquerque, NM and lived at the family home on Williams St. After the untimely death of her mother at a very young age Guadalupe helped her father to care for her younger brothers and sisters.

Ernesto and Guadalupe were married on May 22nd 1953 at San Jose Catholic Church and were together until Ernesto’s death on August 20th 2008. They raised one daughter and two sons at their homes in the south valley and later on the Westside of Albuquerque. Guadalupe loved her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren deeply and they were the joy of her life.

Guadalupe was an excellent cook and housewife, but she was also an accomplished business woman and with her brother Tony owned and operated Regency Top Shop. She was a generous and dedicated individual who loved to work with children. She loved her time as a pre-school teacher and still kept in touch with some of her former pupils.

A viewing is scheduled for Friday June 15th 2018 from 2-4PM at Trinity @ the Marketplace at 2520 Chama St. NE Albuquerque, NM 87110. Honorary pallbearers include Patrick Maldonado, Greg Gurule, Braeton Smith and Sammy Gutierrez.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday June 23rd 2018 at 10 AM at Trinity @ the Marketplace with reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. Pastor Michael Kelshaw and Pastor Ernest Rene Palacios will officiate at the service.
