Greg was born on August 25, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan to Thomas and Helen Gillmor. He grew up in Royal Oak, Michigan and attended Michigan State University. At Michigan State he met his bride, Barbara VanVleck, and they were married on August 4, 1963. Greg was drafted into the Army and spent two years at Fort Riley, Kansas. Greg and Barb lived in Lancaster, Ohio, where their two children were born. They later lived in Bellbrook, Ohio, and then the Denver area. Greg had a long career in telecommunications and network systems. He enjoyed the last 10 years being retired and especially enjoyed watching sports and traveling. Greg was preceded in death by an infant son, Charles Scott. Greg is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Cathy (David) Cooper, and son Greg Jr. (Elizabeth) Gillmor. He especially enjoyed his five granddaughters Sydney, Katy, Savannah, Cassidy, and Gwen. Greg and Barb celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in August.
An open house to celebrate Greg's life will be held on December 6, 2014. For information contact the family at ccooper.3223@gmail.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity, or The Denver Zoo, where Greg was a volunteer for many years.
