Gilbert Holmes, Sr.

Gilbert Holmes Sr. of Santa Fe, NM went with our heavenly father on November 25, 2020.  Gilbert was born on August 31, 1936 to Oliver and Andreita Holmes. In 1959 he married Peggy Cordova.  They had seven children together.  Gilbert was active in the community working as an electrician at numerous business in town to include the La Fonda Hotel and the Santa Fe Ski Basin.  He loved to be outdoors fishing and hunting, visiting family to play his guitar and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  Gilbert was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-Day Saints.
Gilbert was a devoted father, grandfather, and uncle.  He is proceeded in death by his mother and father Oliver and Andreita Holmes, his son Gilbert Jr. and grandson Steven Sanchez, his siblings, Delia, Oliver Sr., Clarabelle, Thomas, Teresa, Raymond Sr., and Pauline.  He is survived by his wife Peggy, his brother Ernest (Mary) sister in laws, Esco Holmes, Pauline Holmes and brother in law, Lalo Ortega.  His children, Randall, Brian (Cheryl), Kristy, Patrick (Cheryl), Eric (Edith) and Vanora (Brad), 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the First Responders, Doctors, and nurses at Presbyterian Hospital.  Gilbert was treated with immense care during his stay.
