Gilbert Evanish, Jr.

February 2, 1950 — June 17, 2019

Gil passed away on June 17, 2019. He is survived by his sister Janice Klesta of Elyria, OH; brother Glenn (GiHong) of Suwanee, GA; nieces and nephews Holly, Jill and Christopher Klesta, Kelly and Casey; girlfriend Peggy Miller and long-time friend Jill Zullo (Matt Carr). He was predeceased by his parents Gilbert Sr. and Anne.

Born in 1950 and raised in Ohio, he received his B.A. (Spanish) and M.A. (Linguistics) from Ohio University. After teaching English as a Second Language in El Paso, Texas for a year after college, he moved to Denver, Colorado where he soon began a career with the Federal Government, retiring from the DFAS in 2008.

He enjoyed collecting valuables, team bowling, fishing, Rockies and Indians baseball, fireworks, music, playing guitar, Beatles cover bands, and watching football with The Browns Backers organization for many years. Gil loved animals, and always had cats in his home .He was a caring, helpful, loving, intelligent, generous, funny and gentle man.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 31 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 2201 Dexter St., Denver, CO 80207 at 4 p.m.
