Gilbert Barbero

Gilbert Manuel Barbero, a resident of Santa Fe passed away on July 20, 2016 surrounded by his loving family by his side. He was proceeded in death by his Mother, Cecilia, Father, Joe and was like a father to him Celistino; sisters, Evelyn, Joanne, Georgia; granddaughter, Brianna; niece, Maria; son-in-law, Lawrence; in-laws, Ernesto and Ramona Ortiz; brother-in-law, Ruben; plus many loving aunts and uncles.   He was born in Santa Fe on July 3, 1951 and he grew up in Acequia Madre.  He attended Christo Rey School.  He then married his beautiful wife, Angie in 1967 and moved to the Agua Fria Village where they had their loving children Gloria, Karmella and Manuel.  He worked at St. Vincent hospital for 46 years and then retired in 2013.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, swimming pools, casinos, the outdoors, his chickens, and his dogs.  He loved planting outside and once again he loved swimming pools.  He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.   He is survived by his loving wife Angie and children Gloria Martinez (Dessie), Karmella Carrillo, Manuel Barbero (Erica) and grandchildren Cisco, Akisha, Jude, L J and Luke.  Extended family Virgina, Jenny, Celia (Val), Lupe, Val (Brenda), Carmen, Lena (Andrew), Tina, James (Liz), Joseph (Donna); godchildren, Angela, Hannah and LJ; plus many loving nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.  Public visitation will begin on Monday, July 25, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at the old San Isidro Catholic Church with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.   Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. also at the Old San Isidro Catholic Church with burial to follow at Cementerio de Agua Fria. Reception to follow at the Nancy Rodriguez Center.  Serving the family as pallbearers will be Manuel, Cisco, Dessie, LJ, Frank and Andrew.
