Genevieve Gordon was born and raised in Winton, Wyoming, one of several small coal mining camp towns that dotted the state's southwestern landscape. She was a popular student and made friends easily because of her kind and inclusive nature. She even reigned as junior prom queen.
After graduating from high school she attended the University of Wyoming and then moved to Colorado to attend Loretto Heights College.
She taught first grade for a year and then went on to start her own family. She had five children: Michael, Bernadette, Jennifer, John, and Julie; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren, and an array of grand dogs and cats.
She enjoyed gardening, reading, antiquing, fishing, baking, British period dramas, politics, scavenging for fossils and arrowheads, decorating her home, and rooting for the Denver Broncos. Naturally curious, she liked meeting new people and hearing about their life stories. One of her most endearing qualities was that she delighted in good laugh, especially at herself.
But her faith and family always came first. She was steadfast in her beliefs yet preferred to live them quietly and by example.
As to her family, her door and her heart were always open. Whether it was that final Monopoly game, the all-important phone call or the Saturday afternoon lunch, she made everyone feel important, valued and loved.
She is preceded in death by her parents William and Gladys Lowe, her sister Donna Collins, her brother Joseph Rogers, and her brother Laurie Lowe. She will be remembered with love by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her sister Wilma Erramouspe, her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She touched many lives in her 83 years and she will be missed by all who knew her.
