Gene grew up in Baltimore, Maryland where he attended Patterson High School. It was here he met his future wife, Sandra Roberts. They graduated in 1962 and were married on July 4, 1965.
Gene joined the Air Force on January 2, 1964 and did his basic training in Amarillo, Texas. He was stationed at Williams Air Force Base in Chandler, Arizona in 1966. Afterwards he was sent to Okinawa, where he crew-chiefed the planes flying to Viet Nam. He was discharged honorably in 1967. He returned to Baltimore and went to work for United Airlines. In 1981 he transferred to Denver, Colorado with the airlines where he worked for a total of 32 years until he retired.
He loved fishing and hunting with his buddies anytime he got a chance.
Gene was a cancer survivor of four years. He passed from a triple aortic aneurysm.
Gene will be missed by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Sandra Roberts White, and his two daughters, Stephanie Schultz and Kristin Hofland (Christopher J. Hofland), and four grandchildren, Taryn White, and his great-granddaughter, Ashylynn Rauterkus, Andrew Schultz, Megan Schultz, Madison Hofland, and step- granddaughter, Saige Hofland, and her daughter, Danielle Hofland, and step- grandson, Christopher A. Hofland. Gene is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Henderson (Jimmy Henderson), and many nephews and nieces.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Mareda Alice (Legg) and Matthew W. White and his brother Arland A. White.
Gene lived his seventy-three years with the love of family and friends.
A Committal Service for Gene will take place on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 2:15 p.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery at Staging Area C. Please line up at Staging Area C at 2:00 p.m.
