Gary Allen Clear
July 26, 1947 - September 7, 2017
Gary Allen Clear was born July 26, 1947 to Gerald and Dorothy Clear (Betz) in Denver, Colorado. Gary grew up in Denver and graduated from Alameda High School in 1965. He continued his education at Adams State College, where he ran track while earning a bachelors degree in Education in 1969.
From 1970 to 2002, Gary served as a State Parole Agent for the Colorado Department of Corrections, where he had a close relationship with multiple state, local, and federal law enforcement agencies through out his 32 year career in law enforcement.
On November 17, 1973 Gary married Kristin Shallman who remained his beloved wife for 43 years. They had four amazing children, Michael, Katie, Brian, and Melissa. Michael and his wife Sarah reside in Fort Worth, Texas with their two children Samuel and Hannah; Katie and her husband Rhett reside in Broomfield, Colorado with their two children Madison and McKenna; Brian resides in Parker, Colorado with his three children Alexander, Peyton, and Dominic; and Melissa resides in Arvada, Colorado.
Gary enjoyed fishing, hockey, rebuilding classic cars, playing practical jokes on friends and family, and always looking for the next good deal at yard sales. He especially enjoyed being a grandfather to his seven grandchildren, Alexander, Samuel, Hannah, Peyton, Dominic, Madison, and McKenna. Those who knew Gary knew that he was an honest, fair, hardworking man who lived his life with the utmost integrity and was a positive role model to everyone around him. Gary had a generous spirit and regularly volunteered with youth hockey clubs. As a volunteer Gary encountered children who did not have the financial means to continue in club hockey and he would sponsor them, allowing children to continue to play the sport that otherwise would have remained out of reach. Gary was always ready for life's next adventure.
Gary will be cremated in Denver, Colorado where the family will hold a private ceremony and his ashes will be spread in areas most special to Gary and his family.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association: https://goo.gl/Vdtpd7
