Gail Lynn Youmans, 53, of Aurora Colorado, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2016, of natural causes. Gail was born on December 21, 1962 in Oroville, California, the youngest of five children of Charles Edward and Dorothy Ann Flaherty. In 1972 after her mother remarried, she took the name of her adoptive step-father and became Gail Lynn Peoples. She lived in a number of places in the Northwest as a child but her family settled in Meridian, Idaho, where she completed grade school, junior high and graduated from Meridian high school in 1981. She married Joseph Henry Youmans in Meridian on December 19, 1981 and they moved to Denver, Colorado soon thereafter.
Gail and Joe enjoyed hiking, backpacking, traveling, and spending time with friends, nieces and nephews, and in later years Gail became a "second grandmother" to her best friend and sister's grandchildren. Joe and Gail were avid Denver Bronco fans, and through her husband's work, they became active in many community civic events. Gail loved animals, and pursued a career as veterinary technician and later became a surgical vet tech at Veterinary Surgical Services. In later years, the physical demands of veterinary work and her health issues prompted a career change. She attended Arapahoe Community College to learn accounting, and most recently worked as an Accounts Payable Specialist at MDC Holdings, Inc. She loved her work and her work family.
Gail is survived by her four siblings: Pamela Andrews, of Hershey, Nebraska; Chuck Peoples, Boise Idaho; David Peoples, Soda Springs, Idaho; and Terry Peoples, Boise, Idaho. Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Dorothy Peoples, and her husband Joe, who passed away on February 25, 2009. She is with Joe now. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Gail's life on Sunday, May 1, at 11:00 a.m., at The Denver Hospice, 8299 E. Lowry Blvd., Denver, Colorado.
