Elmer Boxler

Gene was born on September 22, 1933 in Garden City, Kansas to Adolph and Rose (Wasinger) Boxler. He had 3 younger siblings:  Firma, Jerry and Wayne.  He attended Garden City High School where he lettered in track and football.  He married Betty Leone Wycoff on July 15, 1953.  He served in the US Air Force from 1953 to 1957 and was stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas.  He was an assistant crew chief with the 321st Air Refueling Squadron, working with the KC-97 tanker refueling B47 and B52 bombers.  After leaving the Air Force, he worked in the aerospace industry at the Martin Company, Lear Jet, General Electric and retired from Lockheed Martin on January 1st, 1989 where he worked as a Program Representative.  He and Betty raised 4 boys:  Michael born 1955, Larry born 1956, Ronald born 1957 and David born 1960.  The family lived in many different places including Slidell, Louisiana, but settled in the Denver area in 1969.  Betty and Gene enjoyed fishing and traveling in their fifth wheel after retiring.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty, who passed away in September 2014 and his brother Jerry.  He is survived by siblings Firma Lucas and Wayne Boxler, his children and grandchildren:

Mike (Liz) Ian, Cindy and Nick

Larry (Denise) Amber, Brenda and Jenny

Ron (Jennifer) Jon, Melissa and Joe

David (Yvette) Steven, Dan and Brandon

Dad had 15 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Services start at 11:00 AM on September 22nd at Christ on the Mountain Catholic Church
13922 West Utah Avenue Lakewood, CO 80228.

Lunch will follow the Services at the church.

The Ceremony at Fort Logan National Cemetery will be at 2:30 PM

The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to Larry and Donna Noska as well as the staff at Elevation Hospice of Colorado for their compassion and extraordinary care of dad.
