Ellen Bouck Kuhn was born Ellen Christine Bouck in Albany, New York on February 25, 1931. She grew up in Schoharie, New York, and had one sibling eleven years her senior. Her brother Elliott Fraser Bouck was a pilot in WWII, and lived to be 99 years old. When she was 17, she went to Purdue University and met her husband of 64 years, Edward Fredrick Kuhn, Jr. After graduating from Purdue, they lived in Plainfield, New Jersey, where Ellen taught preschool until she was expecting her third child in three years. Ellen became a homemaker, taking care of her three young children: Peter, Daniel, and Christine. In 1964, the family moved to Dallas, Texas, where Ed started his own business selling computer hardware and software. Ed and Ellen’s 4th and last child, Sarah, was born in Dallas. Ed and Ellen lived in Dallas until 2005, when their daughter Sarah convinced them to move to New Mexico. Ellen was preceded in death by her brother Fraser Bouck, her husband Ed Kuhn, and her son Dan Kuhn. After losing her son to liver cancer, Ellen’s health declined quickly until her death January 19, 2025. She had lived with her daughter Sarah since her husband passed away in 2017. Ellen is survived by her three remaining children, Pete (and Diesta) Kuhn, Chrissy (and Tim) Selby, and Sarah (and Steve) Hayes, and five grandchildren: Adam Selby (and Mallory), Erika Selby, Leah Selby, Nick Hayes, and Hayden Hayes. Ellen is also survived by her last pair of cats, Tea and Coffee, who both miss her presence. Ellen loved reading, cooking, cheese fondue, playing Scrabble, and of course, all of her cats.
