Elfriede Bleicher Storz
Departed May 7, 2017
Elfriede Bleicher was born in Munich, Germany on February 11, 1935. She came to the United States in 1954, working as an au pair in Monte Vista, Colorado. A homemaker and community volunteer, she worked tirelessly to support children including extensive volunteer work with the Girl Scouts of America, and through various youth sporting organizations. She was recognized by the State of Colorado with the Citizen by Choice award, which recognizes extraordinary contributions from naturalized citizens, for her many years of volunteer work. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and will be remembered for her quick wit and outgoing personality. Nearly everyone who knew her has a story to share about her frankness and honesty, much of which was peppered with her often unintentional humor.
She is survived by daughter, Heidi Storz of Brighton; grandsons Derek Belohrad (Megan) of Broomfield, and Ryan Belohrad (Jaimie) of Erie; and great-grandchildren, Charlotte Belohrad and Dylan Belohrad. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerhard Storz.
A memorial of her life is planned for Saturday, May 13 at 10 a.m. at the Horan and McConaty Chapel at 9998 Grant Street in Thornton, Colorado. Donations in her memory can be made to the school she supported for many years, the St. Joseph's Indian School, 1301 North Main Street, Chamberlain, SD 57325.
