Eleanor Louise Casler, 78 of Littleton, Colorado passed away on Friday April 5, 2013. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Casler, her daughter Catherine Boyle and her two grandchildren, Sarah and Daniel. She is also survived by her two sisters, Joyce Fernandes and Myra Knez as well as two brothers Jim Kindig and Robert Graham. She was loved deeply and will be missed by many.
Eleanor was born in Hastings, NE on May 26, 1934. Her father Robert passed away when she was 10 and she spent her teen years living with Grandma and Grandpa Mackie. She met her husband Jerry at Hastings High School. They married, had daughter Catherine and son Greg then moved to Omaha a few years later. While in Omaha, Eleanor worked as Director of Volunteers at Immanuel Hospital for 17 years. In 1979, after the death of their son Greg, the family moved to Estes Park, CO where they ran a small grocery store at the foot of Rocky Mountain National Park. Eleanor then began working in her favorite shop in Estes Park - The Christmas Shoppe where she worked for nearly 19 years.
About 10 years ago, the high altitude got to be too much for Eleanor and Jerry and so they made the move down to Fredrick, CO where they established new friendships and a community. While in Fredrick, Eleanor was active in the Tri-Town Seniors. Three years ago, the two moved to Littleton to be closer to their daughter and to their numerous doctors.
Eleanor was also a talented artist. She liked the challenge of learning and mastering new mediums. As a teenager, she taught ceramics at the House of Yesterday in Hastings, and later she painted on canvas using oils, and she dabbled in watercolor and china painting. She also mastered needle point. But more than anything, Eleanor was called upon to tie the perfect bow. Many a bride would ask for only Eleanor to tie their wedding sash and made neighbors and friends envious with her wreaths for all occasions equipped with her bows and beautiful seasonal arrangements.
