Eduardo "Eddie" Garcia

May 24, 1944 — October 19, 2021

Eduardo Garcia, 77, born May 24, 1944, of Santa Fe NM, passed away on October 19, 2021, after his long battle with COPD. He was the son of the late Jose R. Garcia and Juanita Velarde. He graduated from Santa Fe High School and his achievements were many. Eduardo had a great sense of humor, was a talented musician, loved his family, and New Mexico. He worked for PERA, Casa Rael, and retired from the Highway Department. His musical talents were shared with many local musicians for over 40 years to include his donated time with Taos Four Square Church and other entities. His contagious laugh, witty humor, and kindness will be cherished forever by all who had the privilege to know him.
Eduardo will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of 58 years and caretaker Evelyn Garcia, his son Eduardo and wife Amy Garcia, his three grandchildren Eddie, Dylan, and Isabella Garcia, his three step-grandchildren Dominic, Daniel, Madison Rael, and many nieces and nephews. Eduardo is also survived by his sister Sara Ortega (husband Juan), Tony Anaya (wife Cordelia), and sister-in-law Tessie Garcia. Eduardo was preceded in death by his brother Ramon Garcia, sisters Gina Tanouye, Lena Ortiz, Eufelia Espinoza, and Teresa Lopez.
We would like to extend our appreciation and deep gratitude to Amber Care Staff. Special thanks to his nurse Sheryl Dougherty, volunteers Andrew Jaramillo, Jonathan Slater, Jennifer Marquez, and Rose Lopez of Avista Cremation and Burial for her compassionate care in the coordination of arrangements. Also, to family and friends who have been so supportive during this enduring time.
Cremation will be private. A memorial service and celebration will be held at a later date.
