Edith Lorene Heflin, age 88, of Thornton, CO, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2016. She was born March 30, 1928, in Stigler, OK, to Lester and Corda (Nance) Lewis.
Edith was an energetic, feisty, and kind hearted woman. Her family was the most important thing to her on this earth and she loved spending time with them. She was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren. She was an incredible musician and played the fiddle by ear. In her early years she played in a country and western band with her brothers, Curly and Presley Lewis. In her later years she was a geriatric nurse.
Edith is survived by her children, Gary (Rhonda) Heflin of Tulsa, OK and Kim (Tim) Wilbanks of Northglenn, CO; grandchildren, Sarah Heflin and Natalie Heflin of Tulsa, OK, and Cody (Dannielle) Wilbanks of Florence, Italy, and 6 great grandchildren; brother, Vaughn (Linda) Lewis of Owasso, OK, and sister, Lennie Smith of Broken Arrow, OK; along with many relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, J.D.; and siblings, Sherman, Jesse, Allie, Presley, Curley, and Glen.
Her ashes will be scattered in the Rocky Mountains per her request and a celebration of her life will take place next summer.
