Dwight Raymond Johnson, 70, passed away peacefully at home in Aurora on Nov. 20, 2013, after a long battle with cancer. Survived by his wife, Jackie Ryun-Nicholson, sons Todd Kathie of Centennial, Scott Mary of Boston, stepchildren Michelle Cozad and Angela, Mark and Vance Nicholson of Denver, Father Raymond, 99, and brother Bruce Jeanne all of St. Paul, MN, and 15 grandchildren. Preceded in death by his mother Ollie Slettum, and sister Rita Frederick. Dwight was born in Superior, WI, and graduated from Johnson High School in St. Paul, then attended Augsberg College, where he played hockey, before enlisting for 4 years in the Air Force, spending his last year at Lowery Air Force Base, when he met his first wife, Sherry Harvey Picotte, of Denver. They moved to St. Paul where Dwight worked for Shell Oil Company and retired after 20 years and several transfers to Iowa and Ohio, finally in Cleveland, before moving to Denver in 1984, where he met Jackie Ryun-Nicholson. They married on Dec. 31, 1986, in Lakewood, CO, where they lived before moving to Aurora. Dwight retired a second time from Jackson-Hewitt Tax Services in 2010. He lived his life with integrity and loving kindness to everyone, especially his family. His quick wit and sense of humor will be sorely missed as well as his beautiful tenor singing voice. He loved to play golf and dreamed of sailing and traveling in retirement. Dwight was a gentle, mild mannered, caring family man who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. There was a celebration of his life ceremony and interment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
