Dorolyn Eta Lee Newberg (née McCoy) of Old Hickory, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the age of 95.
Dorolyn was born to parents Robert Lee and Nancy Jane (Hatfield) McCoy on January 2, 1923 in Sprigg, West Virginia. She was the youngest of three daughters. She graduated from Matewan High School and pursued a degree in business at Bowling Green Business University. She worked for Delta Airlines, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and as a civilian radio operator for U.S. armed forces in Wiesbaden, Germany.
Dorolyn married John Newberg, Sr., in 1956, and the couple had two children. Dorolyn worked as a secretary until her retirement in 1989.
Dorolyn is survived by her daughter, Lisa Newberg Patterson (and spouse, Howard); her son, John Newberg, Jr. (and spouse, Karen); four grandsons: McCoy Lee Newberg, Ransom Lewis Patterson, William Chester Patterson, Thomas Rainwater Newberg; a niece, Gwen Jean Slone; and a nephew, Ronald Thompson. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Spicey Mae Ely and Viola Thompson.
Following cremation, a service will be held at St. Philip's Episcopal Church (85 Fairway Drive, Donelson, Tennessee) on Thursday, September 27, at 11:00 a.m., where her ashes will be interred. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Nature Conservancy are suggested.
