Dorine J. Tomer passed away in Arvada on Saturday September 21st, 2024, at the age of 96.
Dorine was born Sept. 1, 1928, in Sand Springs OK to Leroy and Gladys Jones.
She grew up near White Oak, Oklahoma on the family farm and graduated Salutatorian from White Oak High School.
Dorine graduated from Hillcrest Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Tulsa, OK. She worked 41 years as a Registered Nurse in OK, KS, NE, and CO. The last 20 years at Beth Israel (St. Anthony) as a Nursing Supervisor before retirement.
Dorine married Fred Tomer Aug. 2, 1950, in Tulsa (preceded in death 1997). Dorine is survived by her children, Paul (AJ), Amy (Johnny) and Sarah (Harry) and sister Susan Sanders. Dorine has 6 grandchildren: Ashely & Logan, Blane, Russel, Jesse, and Lindsay. And 6 great-grandchildren.
In the early 1970’s the family built their own 2 story home on the western edge of Arvada. They spent 1 ½ years working daily to accomplish this. It was a source of pride that they did this on their own.
Dorine liked camping and gardening and any chance to enjoy the outdoors. She also enjoyed traveling in the United States and was an avid quilter. She was a volunteer and member of the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum (RMQM) for 20 years.
