Denver

Donald L. Poresky, 72, passed away on August 1, 2021 in Denver, Colorado. Don was born September 12, 1948, to Milton and Betty (Chernoff) Poresky, in New York City. Later, the family moved to Hicksville, New York, on Long Island. Don earned a B.A. from Denver University in 1970, concentrating on Writing and Ethnology. He later studied Printing and Photography, and became reporter, photographer and section editor for the Roaring Fork Valley Journal. Don also did freelance work for several publications.  Don enjoyed writing and graphic design, and used his knowledge as a printer to self-publish some books of poetry and social commentary. In the mid-80’s he campaigned for nuclear disarmament, became a restaurant consultant, and created rustic willow furniture. More recently he developed a multi-media series of stories meant for children, which he illustrated with characters based on geometric shapes.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Poresky of Manhattan, Kansas, and his niece Laura Poresky of Des Moines, Iowa. He is survived by his brother Richard Poresky of New Jersey, and his sister-in-law Barbara and niece Pamela Baker, both living in Kansas.

Don requested that his cremains be put with his parents’ cremains. They now rest in Evergreen Cemetery in Hillside, New Jersey.

The family appreciates the kindness of the people who called for help when Don collapsed outside a store on July 8th. Thank you.
