Dianna Sue Travis

Dianna Sue Travis of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away January 2, 2018 in Arvada, CO. She was born August 22, 1934 in Mound City, Missouri to Vernon Brooks and Mildred Louise Ottman. A graduate of Wichita East High School, she went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern Colorado in 1973. She taught in Lamar public schools for 21 years, retiring in 1994.

In 1951, she married her childhood sweetheart, Dean Travis, to whom she was married for 66 years. Dean and Sue spent their married years in Ft. Hood, TX , Lamar, CO, Scottsdale, AZ, and in recent months, Arvada, CO.

Sue was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Lamar, CO and Scottsdale, AZ, serving as an elder in Scottsdale. She was a member of the Ruth Circle, Prayer Shawl Ministry, and Keenagers. Her passions included reading, sewing, crocheting, knitting, and she was an active member of the Pueblo Weavers Guild.

In retirement, Sue and Dean traveled extensively, enjoying trips to Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, St. Martin, and most of the continental United States.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, Scott; her parents; and her brother, Phil Forney.

Sue is survived by her beloved husband, Dean, of Arvada, CO. Children: Kerri (Mike) Coulter of Arvada, Sherri (Jim) Fleetwood of Aurora, Nikki Travis (Warren Brown) of Larkspur, and Tim Travis of Tucson, AZ, as well as seven grandchildren; Travis, Casey, and Katie Coulter, Kirk Goslee and Shandi Tippett, and Kyle and Matthew Even; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Frances Forney, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sue 's outgoing nature inspired many lasting friendships. She will be truly missed by many.

A celebration of life will be held at Horan & McConaty 3020 Federal Blvd. Denver, CO 80211 on Saturday, January 27th at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Reverend Kathy Leathers.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Lutheran Hospice, 3210 Lutheran Parkway, Wheatridge, CO 80033.
