Dawn Lunt

March 1, 1945 — January 22, 2017

Lunt, Dawn Pyle

Dawn Pyle Lunt, born Dawn Carol Pyle, born in Boulder, CO on March 1, 1945, passed away peacefully on the evening of Sunday, January 22, 2017 surrounded by her daughter, Kerry Dixon, sister, Kathy Stewart and son, Collin Rhodes, in the comfort of her home. Her beloved Abyssinian cats were both on her bed watching over her as well. When Dawn was last in the hospital and asked how she was doing, she showed that her wit was still with her by replying “All things considered, I’d rather be in Philadelphia”. Dawn was always a sharp wit and had a knack for making people laugh. She was brilliant, funny and kind above all else.

Dawn is survived by her daughter, Kerry Dixon and two grandchildren, Avery and Aiden Dixon; son, Collin Rhodes his fiancée Michelle Mazulis; five grandchildren, Wesley and Dillon Sondgroth, Payton and Harper Rhodes, and Chelsea Valasquez; three great grandchildren, Halen, Gauge and Diesel Velasquez. She is also survived by her sister, Kathy Steward her brother-in law Os; her nephew, Ossie his wife Shelby; niece, Jessie her fiancé Bill Willits; grandnephew, Tristan Steward. Her departure leaves a big hole in our lives but someday soon, the joy of her life will overcome the sorrow of her passing, and that joy will stay with us for the rest of our days.

Dawn’s celebration of life will be held on January 30, 2017 at 5:00 PM at the First Unitarian Church, 3701 Carlisle Blvd NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico. A short reception will follow. In lieu of flowers donations for one of Dawn's favorite charities, Family Promise, can be made through the First Unitarian Church.
