Dawn Dalton

March 19, 1950 — February 28, 2014

Dawn Allison Dalton, 63, of Denver Colorado, passed away in the early morning hours of February 28th 2014. She was born to the late Dorothy and David Dalton in Hinsdale Illinois, on March 19th, 1950, the second born of five children and the only daughter. She attended and graduated from Downers Grove Community South High School in Illinois.

Dawn worked mostly in the real estate industry, first as a relocation consultant, then later in property management. Dawn's hobbies included painting flowers and some landscape, preferably with oil paint. She lived in San Francisco and Phoenix, but landed to Colorado in 1980 and fell in love with the beautiful Rocky Mountains where she made the state her permanent home.

Dawn, though never married, was a dedicated aunt and great aunt to many of her nieces and nephews. Dawn is survived by four brothers; Ted Prescott of Chicago, Il, Darrell Dalton of Hammond, ID, David Dalton and Dann Dalton of Denver, CO.

In the word of youngest brother David, "She was like a second 'mom' figure to me. She was the best big sister anyone could have; always supportive, always there to bust me on my foolish choices, bail me out when I needed it, and loved me unconditionally. It was easy to make her laugh... she 'got me'. Dawn was an introvert, but had some of the best fife-long friends anyone could have. It was good to see she had received many visits in her last days. Although my heart is hurting, there is an undeniable relief in knowing she is no longer in pain."

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to any cancer research or charity organization of choice.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 11th at 10:00am in the chapel at Horan & McConaty, 3020 Federal Boulevard in Denver. Dawn's ashes will be buried at a later date to be determined in the family plot of Claredon Hills Cemetery, in Darien, Illinois following an informal reception by family.
