David Strausbaugh

David Jay Strausbaugh, age 61, peacefully passed away on January 8, 2014. He was born October 2, 1952 to Jay C. and Mary C. Buschmohle Strausbaugh in Detroit, Michigan. After playing football for Divine Child High School in Dearborn, Michigan he attended the School of Pharmacy at Wayne State University. In the late 1970s, he moved to Aurora, Colorado. Until September of 2013, he was employed by Aurora Mental Health.

His final journey began in July 2012, at the University of Colorado Cancer Center where Dr. Antonio Jimeno and his team of caring professionals aided David in his gallant struggle which culminated on the morning of January 8, 2013 with family at his side.

David was preceded in death by his loving parents. He is survived by his brothers, Tom Joan and Gerald Marcia Strausbaugh, his sister Louise Thomas Fawell; nieces Shannon M. Fawell, Allison Jeff Strausbaugh-Lehrke and Kristen Straubaugh; nephews Matthew Kauffman and Paul M. Fawell, great nephew Nicolas Lehrke, Aunt Apollonia, loving cousins and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 13670 E. 13th Place, Aurora, CO 80011 at 10:00 AM on January 30, 2014.

His final resting place will be at St. Simeon Catholic Cemetery, 22001 E. State Highway 30, Aurora, CO. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift in David's name may be made to either the Universtiy of Colorado Hospital Foundation, 12401 E. 17th Ave, Mail Stop F485, Aurora, CO 80045, or Aurora Mental Health, at www.givingfirst.org.
