David Rodney Bither (Dave), age 86, passed away peacefully in Littleton, CO on November 27, 2020.
He was born June 30, 1934 in Hinsdale, IL to A. Lloyd Bither and Elvira Rossow Bither, he graduated from Hinsdale Township High School (Hinsdale, IL) in 1952, then graduated from Miami of Ohio (Oxford, OH) in 1956, with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Dave was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He met his wife, Susan Osterholm, freshman year at Miami and they were married on June 30, 1956 in Canton, OH.
Dave was employed as a District Manager, in the glass container division, for Owens-Illinois, Inc for 33 years, and worked in Toledo, OH; Nashville, TN; Atlanta, GA; Peoria, IL; and Charlotte, NC where he retired in 1989, then moved to Littleton, CO in 1994 to be closer to family and the beauty of the Rockies, which he had been visiting since the age of 10.
Dave loved his family, cars, Nascar and Indy car racing, mountains, birds, fishing, rocks and jazz big bands. Above all, he was a great husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. For Dave, life was all about the simple things, love of nature, laughter, and being in the moment, but his greatest accomplishment was creating a loving family.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Susan Bither (Littleton, CO); his sister-in-law, Leanne Bither (Door County, WI); his children, Mike Bither (Debbie) Springfield, MO; Julie Mirr (Ken) Denver, CO; Carrie Baird (Kevin) Denver, CO; his 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, A. Lloyd Bither and Elvira Rossow Bither; his brother, Charles Bither; and his nephew, Steven Bither.
Graveside services will be held at a later date.
