David H. Osborne passed away on August 5th, 2014 as a result of the complications of cancer. Dave was born in Washington D.C to Herbert and Sylvia Osborne on June 18, 1936. His early school years were spent in Portland, Oregon and Sacramento, CA. He was a graduate of McClatchy High School in Sacramento and University of Nevada, Reno where he earned his degree in Metallurgical Engineering and Geology.
Dave served in the U.S. Navy as a C.B. (Construction Battalion). He later worked for a series of major mining companies including Newmont Mining and Molybdenum and oil companies including Chevron and Unocal. Dave was an early retiree and took up a second career as a Reserve Police Officer with the Dacono, Colorado Police Department. Early in his second career, Dave would work with patrol officers and occasionally work patrol shifts to help cover for vacations and training days. As years passed Dave would mainly perform services to citizens of Dacono, Firestone and Frederick providing Forensic Investigations for crime scenes and traffic accident investigations. This was Dave's true passion and he loved doing this work. Over the years, while a solitary and private man, Dave became well known and well-liked by his peers and colleagues in the public service professions.
Dave loved and valued the outdoors, nature and science as it related to the earth and the universe. Dave also had a deep interest in history, in particular the Civil War Era.
He is survived by his brother Bob, sister-in-law, Gail both of Lincoln, California and his niece, Kari of Windsor, California and nephew, Mike of Colfax, California.
