David Scott Harden passed away on March 30, 2024 in Denver, CO at the age of 59. He is survived by his father Richard Harden, sisters Theresa Burnett (husband Mike, children Alec and Haley Salmen) and Cindy Burch (husband Russ, children Albie, Jessica, and McKenzie and her husband David Bulgerin), brother Stephen Harden (wife Heidi, children Connor, Laura, and Bryan), as well as his companion of 12 years, Laura Atencio. He was predeceased by his mother Sandra Harden.
David graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School (Denver) in 1983 and later earned an associate degree in fire safety from Aims Community College (Greeley). He honorably served the community for 24 years as a firefighter and EMT. After retiring from the fire department, David worked as a club assistant at Club Greenwood.
A Colorado native, David thrived on being outdoors. He enjoyed sports but was an especially big Denver Bronco fan. David liked hitting the golf ball, working in the yard, soaking up the sunshine, riding his jet ski at Cherry Creek Reservoir, and camping with friends. Family and friends were incredibly important to David; he cherished their company, was willing to help others, and always had a quick quip or a hearty laugh to share. An avid reader, he devoured the daily newspaper and spent hours engrossed in a variety of books.
Helping countless people as an organ donor, David provided his corneas, skin (for burn and mastectomy patients), soft tissue, ligaments, tendons, and bone marrow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in David’s memory to The Denver Hospice or Donor Alliance.
