David Hammond of Denver died April 4, 2019 after a brief illness. Dave was a computer programmer for over 27 years. He spent over 20 of those years at US West/Qwest/Centurylink. He loved solving problems, teaching and mentoring his coworkers as he extolled the virtues of Perl. Dave also had a great love for mathematics, a love he wished more people shared. Dave loved to spend time with his wife and family playing board games, shooting at the range, looking at random chunks of sky, taking photographs at the Denver Botanic Gardens, Rocky Mountain National Park and other sights around Denver. Star Wars and Star Trek were close to his heart. He felt one of his great achievements was sharing those worlds with his wife and seeing her come to love them as he did. Books were a constant companion covering a wide range of topics from World War II, the A-10 Warthog, philosophy, math, science fiction and really anything else that intrigued him. Dave was a kind, gentle, funny and generous man-but don't tell anyone, he had a rep to protect. Dave is survived by his beloved Mrs. darling lady wife, Christa and the family he chose.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Big Cat Rescue at bigcatrescue.org.
