Daniel Patrick Mulqueen (66) was born May 5, 1949 in Denver, CO. He passed away September 4, 2015, also in Denver, CO. He is survived by his wife Rita, his children Daniel, Marie, and Fionn; and grandchildren Magnolia and Amalia. He is also survived by siblings Susan (Wagner), Kathy (Clark), John, Mary Ann (Struecker), Joann (Dillow), Patty (Walters), Ted, and Chris, along with many nieces and nephews. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather who treasured the time spent with his family.
Dan's passions in life included his children and grandchildren, dogs, good cherries, and long debates. He will always be remembered for his strong opinions on a wide range of topics especially those related to politics and world events. He leaves a legacy of pointless but thurough debate within his progeny.
Dan served in United States army during the Vietnam era. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, and probably some other medals. Afterwards, he studied political science at Metropolitan State College of Denver. He was a prominent member of student government as chief of staff, was a recipient of the Special Merit award by Keep America Beautiful, and was influential in founding the Metropolitan State Basketball team.
After college he worked in a wide range of occupations, including many family business', as a family councilor, flag football coach, lawn sprinkler installer, roofer, plumber, home improvement specialist, and campaign manager.
As a political advocate Dan worked with We the People for the Jerry Brown presidential campaign along with many local political campaigns. Beginning in 1992 he was instrumental in spearheading the cleanup of the Rocky Mountain Arsenal and maintained supervision of the project for over a decade, leading to the creation of the current wildlife refuge at that location.
Preceded in death by his mother Jeanne, father Thomas, and siblings Thomas Jr., Linda, and Timothy.
