Dr. Dale J. Lundeen, former university professor and administrator, died in Littleton, Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the age of 90, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Chicago to Dr. Lars and Hilda Johnson Lundeen and moved to Kalamazoo, MI, where he graduated from Western Michigan University. Dale served as a civil engineer with the Army Corp of Engineers in Europe during WWII. After the war, he earned degrees in Speech Pathology from Indiana University. MA where he found his bride Virginia Dixon and University of Minnesota PhD. Dale taught at the University of Minnesota and Northern Michigan University, Marquette, Michigan, before moving to Greeley, Colorado, and starting the speech-language pathology program at the University of Northern Colorado.
Dale authored many articles, was co-chair of United Way, and served on the board of directors for the Epilepsy Foundation and on the board of deacons at First Congressional Church in Greeley. He enjoyed history, travel, reading, bridge, politics and current events.
Dale is preceded by his wife and his sisters Phyllis Lundeen and Irma Fetherolf. He is survived by three daughters, Jill McNellis Patrick, Littleton, Susan St. Pierre Randy, Centennial, and Jan Lundeen, Centennial; and four grandchildren, Ryan Hanni and Beth McNellis, Tyler and Connor St. Pierre. Dale's family greatly appreciates the wonderful loving staff at Gardens at Columbine where Dale lived.
Memorial services will be held 2:30 p.m., Sunday, April 28 in the chapel at Cherry Hills Community Church, 3900 Grace Blvd, Highlands Ranch.
