Christy Bowman-Forsyth

April 27, 1972 — February 17, 2016

After a two year courageous battle with ovarian cancer, Christy Ann Bowman-Forsyth died peacefully on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 9:44 a.m. in Denver Hospice. She was 43 years of age. Christy was born on April 27, 1972 in Duluth, Minnesota. She married Jason Leroy Forsyth on September 25, 1993 in Odessa, Texas and they were currently living in Denver Colorado. She spent the majority of her childhood in the shadow of the Spanish Peaks Mountains in LaVeta, Colorado. She was happiest in the mountains, so their 22 year marriage was spent almost entirely in Walsenburg and Denver, Colorado.

Christy is survived by her husband Jason; her mother Debby and step-father Larry Pochardt of Mesa, Arizona; Father David and step-mother Rose Bowman of Dataw Island, South Carolina; parents-in-law Richard and Beverly Forsyth of Odessa, Texas; Brother Kevin and his wife Joslyn Pochardt of Warwick, N.Y.; Sister Laura Pochardt of Alamosa, Colorado, Sister-in-law Sherree and husband Troy Crumrine of Odessa, Texas; Brother-in-law Alan Forsyth of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; many treasured friends.

Christy loved her heavenly father, Jehovah, with her whole heart, soul, and strength as described at Deuteronomy 6:5. She served him loyally as one of Jehovah's Witnesses for over 30 years from her baptism on October 5th, 1985 until her death. She was a very active person who enjoyed hiking, biking, running, roller blading, walking and many other outdoor activities. She found much joy in planting and watching things grow and thrive. She also loved art and expressed this through many avenues especially poetry and painting. In all her endeavors she worked whole souled and accomplished wonderful things in her short time. She was very kind and giving with her friends and family. They will miss her sweet, loving, playfully mischievous personality and especially her infectious laugh.

Christy had a thirst for learning and hard work, standing up as Salutatorian at her High School graduation. Although she worked in a number of capacities in the early years ranging from retail to food service, her professional career was primarily in health care administration. She had satisfaction working for the Moll Family Practice in Walsenburg for many years coding and in administration. When Christy moved to Denver in order to help in the construction work at the Assembly Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses as a volunteer, she procured a position at the Sleep Well Center of Greenwood Village, Colorado. She worked there until her health no longer permitted it.

Christy requested that her services not be held immediately so her friends and family would not feel the pressure which comes with a rushed memorial service. In honor of her wishes her Memorial will be on Saturday, April 9th, 2016. It will be held at 2:00 p.m at The Summit Conference and Event Center, 411 Sable Blvd North, Aurora, CO 80011. Doors will open at 1:45 for orderly seating and the funeral service will begin promptly at 2:30. A reception is to follow at the same location. The family is providing a meal catered by the Summit Event center. For sufficient coverage planning we would appreciate you texting your name and how many may be attending to Jason at 720-474-6111. If you would like to bring a dessert also include that information in your text.

In lieu of flowers you may send memorial contributions to Denver Hospice Inpatient Care at 8299 E. Lowry Boulevard, Denver, Colorado, 80230. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff and wonderful nurses who took such great care of her in the last weeks of her life. They made a tragic situation less stressful so our energy and attention could be focused solely on Christy's care and comfort.

I personally recommend the Country Inn & Suites for this matter. I have never stayed there, but a family member has stayed at that Doubletree. It was for them a lackluster experience, is further from the event and airport, and is more expensive.
