Charles Schiell

November 15, 1952 — March 23, 2021

Denver, CO

Charles (Randy) Schiell, 68, surrounded by family, died at home in Denver, CO on March 23, 2021 of Parkinson’s.

Randy was born November 15, 1952 at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Aurora, CO.  Due to his father’s military career, Randy moved often.  Canada, Massachusetts, Georgia, France, Germany, Texas and back to Colorado.  He graduated from Broomfield High School and went to the University of Colorado.  He graduated with a B.S. in Sociology.  Later, he attended Colorado State University where he graduated with his M.B.A.

Randy worked with several equipment leasing companies over the years until his retirement in 2011.  He was a member of United Equipment Leasing Association and was awarded several honors.  Randy also held positions on various H.O.A. boards as well as an elected position for a special water district in Arvada, CO.  The bonds for that district were paid off several years early due to his financial expertise.

Randy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janelle aka Jan, son, Chris Schiell (Margery Tran), daughter Angela Pierce (Ryan) and brother, Stephen (Janet), sister, Nancy Lofdahl (Duane) and brother, Paul.  Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Chuck and Audrey Schiell.

Randy enjoyed the local pro sports teams, the Broncos, Avalanche, Rockies, Rapids, and even went to rugby, and indoor and outdoor lacrosse games.

Randy enjoyed cross-country and downhill skiing, yard work, and, shoveling snow in shorts and flannel shirts.  Randy also enjoyed travelling and dad jokes!

Randy also enjoyed running.  He ran in two Bolder/Boulder 10k’s.  He improved his time the second year by a minute or two.  As Parkinson’s began to take a toll on his running ability, he started walking to downtown Denver, searching for new places to explore and have a beer.

Due to the pandemic, there will be no formal celebration of life.  A Zoom meeting for family and friends will be published as soon as finalized.  It is our hope that, in the not-so-distant future, we will be able to get together and raise a glass in memory of a life well lived.
