Charles Curtis "Curt" Mateer was born on March 16, 1955, in Pierre, SD, to Charles Q. and Olive Ann Mateer. In 1957, the family moved to Belle Fourche, SD, where Curt grew up and graduated from high school in 1973. Following high school, Curt was employed in Belle Fourche and Graybull, WY, and then relocated to the Denver area, where he had lived and worked since 1985. He leaves behind many family members and friends, including his beloved wife, Kathi Howell Mateer, and children, Michelle Johnson (Jay), Thornton, CO; Kevin Colgan (Elizabeth), San Diego, CA; Morgan Mateer (Mike Mills), Rapid City, SD; Mandi Mateer, Boulder, CO; and Matthew Mateer (Maggie), Everett, WA. He is also survived by his two sisters, Chrisann Mateer, Belle Fourche, and Karen Mateer (Terry Metz), St. Paul, MN, and 13 grandchildren. Curt was a supportive and proud father and grandfather, and was loved for his razor-sharp wit, his good-nature, and his never-failing generosity. He had a passion for WWII history and was a lover of classic cars. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Quentin Mateer and Olive Ann Nicholls Mateer, his sister, Kay Mateer DuBois, and his precious puppy, Yoshi. A memorial service is being held on Saturday, February 6, 2016, 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (12005 E 119th Ave., Henderson, CO 80640).
