Carole Ferris

December 10, 1943 — October 6, 2013

Carole Ann Ferris was born on December 10, 1943 in Shinhopple, a very small town in Upstate New York.

Once old enough, Carole moved into the city, got married, and began her family. Shortly after, she moved to the beautiful state of Colorado, where she would plant her roots and call this place home; not knowing that God would bless her with enormous success and happiness…

Carole wore many hats throughout her life, both literally and figuratively, and at times they did coincide.

The first hat and most important hat, was worn upon the head of a mother of three children; Melissa, Michelle and Melinda Mindy. She did her best to instill strength and courage in them. And would demonstrate, that hard work and determination would set them down the path of success.

Success was absolutely what Carole was known for. In her thirty's, as a single mother of three, she set her sights on starting her own printing company. She jumped heels first, as to not get her hat wet, into a male dominated industry. It was not long until she found herself in the slot of top 10 female business owners in the Denver Metro area. A small town girl had found herself, quite literally, at the top.

How could this successful business owner and mother gain any more happiness? Well a change of hats of course. This hat would be worn upon the head of a grandmother. This was one of her favorite hats as she adored these beautiful faces, and so many faces there were. Krista, Daniel, Michael, Desiree and John were her first grandchildren; though a distance away in New York, she showed pride through photos of each of them. Bryce, Dylan and Mason, were the second edition of grandchildren that were given to the lucky lady. They shared many trips together with beautiful sites to have been seen. May she and Bryce, now be walking side by side, wing to wing, in her most beautiful trip ever. Lastly, she was blessed with "her twins", as so many have heard them referred too, also known as Kiersten and Aiden. These became her two small angels here on earth as they kept her grounded and focused on the parts of life that are left unseen. She had expressed many times that it was their hugs, smiles and "I love you's", that kept her wanting to stay here on earth during her health decline.

And so it comes to that… The time in Carole's life where she traded in her rhinestone encrusted hat, for scarves to cover her lost locks designer scarves, of course…

Carole was diagnosed with breast cancer thirteen years ago and was then given eight months to live. It should be apparent to those that knew her that she found this comment unacceptable. So she changed her life; she changed her diet, she changed her mindset, but most importantly to her, she reunited herself with God. Their relationship was incredibly powerful and special, and she was overjoyed to express her love for him.

There is no doubt that God gave her over a decade of wonderful, healthy years, as she had never undergone any treatments until her final year. It was during this final year of earthly life, that God had taken Carole's gift of tremendous strength and courage, and embraced it within her daughter Mindy. In October of 2012, Carole shed her Coach sunglasses, Channel suit and her Manolo Blahnik heels, and embraced her disease and let it be known to those around her what a fighter she had been all of those years. As she had become very tired, Mindy picked up the gloves that lie beside Carole's and began to fight this fight with her, as aggressively and as lovingly as she knew how. A new blessing had been placed before Carole. Side-by-side, step-by-step, breath-by-breath, these two walked the next year together, and what a journey they had! Carole would tell you that it was that love that kept her desire to be here; the love of her daughter and two small angels.

God called Carole home in the early morning hours on October 6, 2013, from her home in Wheat Ridge, CO. As a mother's hand let go of the grip she had on her daughters, God took hold of it and brought her home. May she now be delighted by her new wings that let her soar, and the halo that has been placed above her flowing locks.

Psalm 23:4
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I will fear no evil
For thou art with me
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me
