Carol Maestas

Carol Maestas, 83, a resident of Santa Fe, and a previous resident of Alcalde, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019. Carol was a caring person and had great love for her family and friends. She was a mother, grandmother, and sister but of all three her favorite role was grandmother to her nine grandchildren. Carol worked over 17 years with special education children as a bus aide for the Santa Fe Public Schools. She enjoyed conversing with the children and often was greeted with a smile and a big hug by them in public. She was preceded in death by her beloved children Beverlie and Randy Maestas and son-in-law Ronnie Garcia;  her parents, Vidal and Alicia Maestas; sister, Teresa Maestas; brothers, Rubel, Vidal and Bernie Maestas; brothers-in-law, Toby Montaño, Freddy Archuleta and Wilfred Salazar. Carol is survived by her children, Alice Garcia, Larry Maestas (Phylisa), daughter-in-law Kathy Maestas and special niece Antoinette Montoya (Kierste); grandchildren, Joel, Randy, Ronnie (Cristina), Adrian Matthew (Apryl), Ivan (Alisha), Christan (Andrew), Brittany, Nichole and Julia; great grandchildren, Zamara, Aidyn, Paytyn, Landyn, Addlyn, Alijah and Scarlett; sisters, Emelia Chavez, Lydia Montaño, Anita Salazar, Flora Garcia (Leroy), Corrine Romero (Phil), Jennie Archuleta, and Rosalie Handrahan; sister-in-law, Rosalie Maestas; and many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. John’s Catholic Church, 185 Po'Pay Ave, Ohkay Owingeh, NM 87566.
