Carla Beth Rodeman was born December 14, 1940 at the Baker Hospital in La Crosse, KS and died May 30, 2018 at the age of 77 in Denver, CO. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family. She is survived by her sister Reva, brother Kyle, eldest daughter Michelle, youngest daughter Nancy, and grand daughter Kyleigh.
Carla was born to Katharen and Charles Rodeman and grew up in McCracken, KS enjoying many adventures with her older sister, younger brother, and many friends. Always very social, her mother noted that she started talking late, but when she did begin to talk, it was not in single words but complete sentences, and she didn't stop. Carla was also musically inclined and participated in marching and performing bands, singing ensembles, choirs and glee clubs. She participated in scholarly competitions and graduated from Fort Hays State University with a degree in Speech Therapy in 1963.
Carla met Leonard Purer in college and they married in Mannheim, Germany in 1963 where Leonard was stationed in the Army. While living in Leoti, KS Carla became a mother to daughter Michelle in October of 1966, and after moving to Littleton, CO she had her daughter Nancy in November of 1970. Carla became a grand mother to Kyleigh in July of 1994. She loved being a mother and grandmother and she 'adopted' many international students who lived with her while studying in Colorado. In 1988 she continued her education by earning a Masters Degree in Communications from the University of Denver while working full time at the university in the Driscoll Center.
Carla was an avid gardener, talented seamstress, and had many other hobbies and talents. She was warm, generous and outgoing and made friends everywhere she worked and lived. She was loved by many, just as she loved and cared for many, and she will be greatly missed.
