Buff passed away peacefully on September 4, 2016 in the arms of Jane, his wife of 60 years, with his family and close friends standing by him. He was preceded in death by his son Jason Douthitt. Buff was a versatile cowboy who lived an amazing life and was an accomplished Professional Rodeo Cowboy. Competing in Steer Wrestling, calf roping and late in life competed in Team Roping. Winning numerous championships including Madison Square Garden, Boston Garden, several times; along with championships in many major cities in the United States, as well as Cuba, Canada and Mexico. Buff created an amazing contract act. He wore cowboy boots as he walked a slack rope, twirling three ropes and even placed a ladder on the slack rope, climbing it while trick roping. Allen Shepard, the first American to rocket into space was fascinated when he saw Buff perform at a state fair. After Buff completed his slack rope act, Allen Shepard quickly left the grandstand to find him. Because of Buff’s uncanny balance, NASA wanted to observe him. He will wipe every tear from their eyes
There will be no more death or mourning
Or Crying or pain, for the old order of things
Has passed away.
