Bruce Pogue

It is with great sorrow that the family of Bruce B. Pogue, 71, of Aurora, Colorado, announces his passing on Wednesday, December 5 at his home. He was born December 26, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to George and Jane (Bruner) Pogue.

Bruce is survived by one brother, George (Connie) Pogue of Peoria, Illinois, a half-sister, Eileen (Bob) DeWeese of Monterey, California, and several nephews, great-nephews, and great-nieces.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents.

Bruce graduated from East Peoria Community High School in 1964, where he was a co-founder and drummer of a rock band called The Casuals. He continued to lead the band during his four years at Bradley University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing.

He joined the U.S. Army in 1968. Following military service, he returned to central Illinois. It was during that time that Bruce decided to follow his dream and go west. Beginning with a northerly route through Montana, he stopped off in various cities in many Western states, including Colorado, Arizona, and Texas. He decided Denver was the place to stay.

There, Bruce joined an engineering firm, becoming a purchasing manager on large energy/mining projects. Bruce's sense of humor was legendary. He was called upon to deliver "roasts" of individuals during retirement parties. During the late 1980's, Bruce left the corporate world to found, with a partner, two entrepreneurial enterprises. In the late 1990's, he returned to the corporate engineering world and retired about 10 years later. Bruce volunteered with Meals on Wheels.

Bruce had a deep and abiding faith in God. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

A celebration of Bruce's life will take place in or near Peoria, Illinois, date and place to be determined. A private family graveside service will be held in Somerville, Ohio.
