Bruce Barton, loved husband of Deborah, died peacefully Sunday, August 20 in his home after a 20 year battle with cancer, with friends and family nearby. Son of Stanley and Estelle Barton, Bruce was born in Ossining, NY in 1938. He grew up in Westport, CT, and graduated from Brown University in 1960, continuing on to earn an M.S., and later a Ph. D in Educational Psychology from the University of Connecticut. He remained an avid UCONN Huskies basketball fan to the end. Bruce was a lover of both nature and human nature, and was as likely to be found walking in the woods as he was sharing his wit and wisdom with groups of people from work or church. Bruce leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Deborah, his daughter, Andrea Barton from Connecticut, 2 step children, Corinne Giarnella and Randy Giarnella both of Connecticut, and three adored grandchildren, Macy, Lilia, and Emmett, all of CT. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Mile Hi Church, 9077 W. Alameda Ave., Lakewood, CO. A graveside burial will be held in Connecticut in the spring. Memorial donations in his name may be made by check or online to: Colorado Visiting Nurses Association 390 Grant Street, Denver, CO 80203.
