Bridgett Palacios

Bridgett L. Palacios (née Vande Vrede) died in her home on April14th, 2017 in Albuquerque, NM after succumbing to brain cancer at the age of 58 years old.

Bridgett is survived by her mother Karen Townsend & stepfather Eddie Townsend of Alamogordo, NM, mother-in-law Lupe Palacios of Albuquerque, NM, husband Ernest Rene Palacios of Albuquerque, NM; son Adrian Palacios and his wife Natalie and grandson Myles of Denver CO, son Jonathan Palacios of Albuquerque, NM; brother Douglas Wynn Vande Vrede and wife Tina of Kalispell, MT, brother Adam Vande Vrede and wife Cathy of Sartell, MN, brother-in-law Carlos Palacios and fiancée Martha of Watsonville, CA, her cousin Claudette Ansberry and husband Brian of Milaca, MN and many beloved aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews. Bridgett is preceded in death by her father Leon Vande Vrede, father-in-law Ernest H. Palacios, sister Julie, and son Evan Michael Palacios.

Bridgett was born on August 25th, 1958 in Minneapolis, MN to Leon and Karen Vande Vrede. She married Ernest Rene Palacios, in 1980. She studied for the ministry alongside her husband at the Southern Arizona Bible College. She worked alongside her husband in Christian ministry at various pastorates and at the Albuquerque Rescue Mission (now Steelbridge Ministries). Bridgett spent many years working in dental office management and at the Lovelace Health Plan in Albuquerque. The couple welcomed three sons into their home as well as several foster children for the state of New Mexico.

Bridgett was accomplished at singing, painting, cooking and needlework of various kinds. She was a generous and dedicated individual who loved to work with and preach the gospel to those struggling with homelessness, drug addictions and mental illness and who was passionate about changing the part of the world where her Lord Jesus had placed her. She was a dedicated member of Trinity @ the Marketplace and Ascension Anglican Church of Albuquerque, NM.

A funeral is scheduled for Thursday April 20th, 2017 at 11AM at Trinity @ the Marketplace with a graveside service to follow at Fairview Memorial Park, and a reception to follow at Trinity @ the Marketplace. The Rev. Michael Kelshaw and the Rev. Ernest Rene Palacios will officiate the ceremony. Everyone is welcome to attend as we “accompany Bridgett with singing” to her final resting place in this world as she awaits the resurrection. Pallbearers will be Adrian Palacios, Jonathan Palacios, Douglas Wynn Vande Vrede, Adam Vande Vrede, Carlos Vargas, and Samuel Gutierrez. The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Walker and his staff, Barrow Neurological Institute, Lovelace Cancer Center and Heritage Healthcare and Hospice for their efforts, care, dedication and kindness on Bridgett’s behalf. The family would also like to thank Trinity @ the Marketplace, Ascension Anglican Church and Steelbridge Ministries for their generosity, kindness and understanding during a very difficult period.
