Bill Roy Sitchler was born in 1928 in Texas. He was born into a large family of brothers and sisters during the worst times of the Depression on a farm, learning and doing the daily chores and understanding the value of hard work in a time of uncertainty. Bill looked upon those times fondly whenever he talked about them.
When World War II came and the nation mobilized for war after Pearl Harbor, he gladly and fecklessly threw himself into the fray.
When he left the military he seemed to keep throwing himself in the fray. He was a truck driver transporting explosives. He was a race car driver. Later, he would turn his mind to business and become a manager in retail, a livelihood he stayed with much of his life. He lived a life that was rife with adventure, foibles, missteps and fateful leaps.
In his last years, Bill was immensely grateful for family. He very much enjoyed his golden years with his wife, Joann, to whom he’d been married for 50 years, and who he lost in 2022. He loved his grandchildren with all his heart. He loved and adored his dog. He was an avid fan of the Broncos in good seasons and bad, and his most treasured possession was a Broncos quilt he kept with him at all times, along with a photobook of his beloved wife.
Bill is survived by his son, Bill Jr., and a host of grandchildren. He will be sorely missed. We are immensely thankful for our time with him.
